LBT Q 1 2008 Eng/SW Review INSP: Instrument Support.
Highlights n SX M 3 aligned to Forward Bent Gregorian Rotator, so now Lucifer can go on. * *This may be part of TAL, but it is exciting enough to mention here. 4 -Apr-2008 LBT Q 1 2008 Eng/SW Review
Progress n n Planning From Q 4 Review: n Measurement of stray light needs to be done. Seems to be of low priority with instrument group. n New superfoc images in Blue need to be taken to confirm good alignment. Done, Blue alignment good, as expected. n Further work optimizing alignment for co-pointing required. In progress, no feedback on results with co-pointing from recent science runs has made it back to the Engineering Group. Assume silence means no problems. M 3 aligned: ~15” in alignment to Thru-Gregorian rotator and Lucifer axes, ~ 1. 0 mm in critical centring alignment. 4 -Apr-2008 LBT Q 1 2008 Eng/SW Review
Open Issues n Technical n n Schedule n n None Budget n n Ladder between Instrument Platform and mirror cell access catwalk need to be moved to accommodate Lucifer. Unfortunately, Lucifer wants to partially block where it is going to go. Optimizing position of Red and Blue L 2 required to flatten focal plane. Opened discussion with OSU and MPIA about ideas for incorporating Laser Tracker capability into their alignment plans. None Resource n None 4 -Apr-2008 LBT Q 1 2008 Eng/SW Review
