LBNF/DUNE Quality Assurance Plan • Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) systems are designed, as part of the LBNF/DUNE Quality Assurance Plan, to ensure that the components of the DUNE Project meet the design specifications and operate within the parameters mandated by the requirements. • QA Plan outlines the QA requirements for all LBNF/DUNE collaborators and subcontractors, subsequently referred to as Project Partners, and describes how the requirements shall be met. • QA Plan is implemented via the development of quality plans, procedures and guidelines to address those specific quality requirements. Procedure Development • You need a procedure when a process: Ø Is lengthy Ø Is complex Ø Is routine, but it's essential that everyone strictly follows rules Ø Demands consistency Ø Involves documentation Ø Involves significant change Ø Has serious consequences if done wrong. 6 6 March 2021 Kevin Fahey | LBNF/DUNE Quality Assurance
Procedure Development • Important that your procedures have the right level of detail. Here are some questions to consider: Ø Do users have enough information to complete the action? Ø Is there enough information to guide users in using good professional judgment? Ø Is the level of detail appropriate for the subject? Ø Is the level of detail appropriate for readers? Ø How comfortable are readers with the subject? • 7 Before you start writing, gather detailed information on the process you're making into a procedure. 6 March 2021 Kevin Fahey | LBNF/DUNE Quality Assurance
Procedure Development • 8 Here are some good rules to follow when writing the procedure: Ø Write actions out in the order in which they happen. Start with the first action, and end with the last action. Ø Ø Ø Ø Avoid too many words. Just be specific enough to communicate clearly. Use the active voice. Use lists and bullets. Don't be too brief, or you may give up clarity. Explain your assumptions, and make sure your assumptions are valid. Use jargon and slang carefully. Write at an appropriate reading level. 6 March 2021 Kevin Fahey | LBNF/DUNE Quality Assurance

(1) How often should you test, (2) Where should you test along the assembly process, (3) How long should the testing process take, (4) Identity what resources are required. Ø 10 Defines the critical steps or processes for testing the components/assemblies. 6 March 2021 Kevin Fahey | LBNF/DUNE Quality Assurance
Quality Control Plan • Purpose and Scope: (Purpose and scope could be to ensure that the equipment meet the specification requirements and scope is detailing a description of the equipment. ) • Specifications, Drawings and Procedures: (List of applicable specifications, drawings and/or procedures that include the QA/QC requirements) • • • 11 Components being inspected or tested Description of QC inspections and tests Location of inspections and tests Technical justification of inspections and tests QC Documentation 16 March 2021 Kevin Fahey | LBNF/DUNE Quality Assurance
