DOE Funding Status for LBNF • FY 18 Status: - President’s Budget Request (PBR) is $55 M; above FY 17 PBR and FY 17 final appropriated amount • House and Senate sub-committees have already “marked” their respective appropriations bills at $80 M to $82 M respectively • We are working to increase FY 18 appropriation to ~$95 M - LBNF, DUNE, and Fermilab leadership consensus is to prioritize Far Site work over Near Site work • FY 19 and out: - DOE working continuously to improve funding profile, particularly in FY 19 to FY 22 timeframe 3 11. 08. 17 T. Preparation for On-site Construction Start • Conveyor design/fab procurement was awarded in June 2017. The 50% design submittal was received on October 20, 2017. • Groundbreaking held on July 21, 2017 (see next slide) • CM/GC contract awarded to Kiewit/Alberici Joint Venture (KAJV) in August 2017. Kick-off meeting held in August. NTP issued in September 2017. (see next slide) • Three member Dispute Resolution Board (DRB) has been jointly selected with KAJV. First DRB meeting is scheduled for early 2018. • Web-based Project Management System (WBPMS) proposed by KAJV has been accepted with corrections. Site to be launched in the next few months. • Value Engineering Workshop scheduled for November with KAJV, facilitated by a Certified Value Specialist (CVS) • We continue to work on finalizing CF requirements and interfaces with technical systems 4 11. 08. 17 T. SURF Reliability Projects - assure safe & reliable construction • Ross Shaft rehab reached 4850 L - Remaining rehab - what is needed for LBNF rock excavation - Commissioning shaft requires new cage, planned to be ready summer 2018 - Crews recently changed to revised shift schedule (slower) as work is now more complicated. • Working on procurements for other items - Ross Hoist brakes/clutches/drives - Oro Hondo fan VFD replacement is accelerated due to VFD issues - Cage and skip replacements - Hoist motor rebuilds, bearings/bushing replacements - Refuge chamber capacity increase (supplies & air equipment) 7 11. 08. 17 T. Summary • Working with KAJV on Pre Excavation construction start, with trade package cost proposals due in December to support April NTP and May onsite construction start. • We are well-positioned to start initial construction and move into full design in coming weeks. 8 11. 08. 17 T.
