Large Intestine Meridian - Hand Yang Ming - General Information Internal/External Pathways * Up the posterior aspect of the arm • Enters the lung at the chest • A branch goes down and connects with the large intestine • Another branch goes up around the mouth to the other side of the body
Large Intestine 1 Shang Yang Metal Yang • Location – 0. 1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail on the radial side of the index finger – No Moxa • Function – jing well – heat, pain, stagnation at opposite end of channel, toothache, eye/ear pain; high fever, coma
Large Intestine 2 Er Jian Second Space • Location – On the radial side of the index finger distal to the Second Metacarpal Pharangeal joint in a depression at the junction of the red & white skin • Function – ying spring – clears excess a/or heat from channel, toothache, sore throat
Large Intestine 3 San Jian Third Space • Location – On the radial side of the index finger proximal to the head of the second metacarpal bone • Function – Nasal congestion, face pain, toothache, frontal headache, local pain, motor dysfunction of index finger
Large Intestine 4 He Gu Union Valley • Location – At the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone on the radial side – No Moxa – No Needle In Pregnancy • Functions – yuan source – command point for face, mouth, jaw, nose; – release the exterior; tonify wei qi; – lower jaw toothache; frontal/sinus headache; – w/LV 3 (“four gates”) move Qi and Blood; – promote labor, expel placenta – Entry Point

Large Intestine 15 Jian Yu Shoulder Bone • Location – Anterior and inferior to the acromion in a depression formed when the arm is in full abduction • Function – shoulder issues, pain, reduced ROM, adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder – Intersecting point of the SI, LI & Yang Qiao Meridians
Large Intestine 16 Ju Gu Great Bone • Location – In the upper aspect of the shoulder between the acromial extremity of the clavicle and the spine of the scapula • Function – blood stagnation in the lungs/chest, vomiting, coughing of Blood – shoulder problems – Intersecting point of the LI & Yang Qiao Meridians

Large Intestine 20 Ying Xiang Welcome Fragrance • Location – In the nasolabial groove level with the midpoint of the lateral border of the ala nasi – No Moxa • Function – sinus issues, rhinitis, sinusitis, allergies – loss of smell/taste – Intersection point of the LI & ST Channels – Exit Point
Precautions • LI 1 - No Moxa • LI 4 - No Moxa in Pregnancy & No Needling in Pregnancy • LI 13 – Avoid the Artery • LI 19 - No Moxa • LI 20 - No Moxa
Yangming Meridian Conjunctions ¤ The following relationships exist between the ST and the LI and can be used to treat ST, LI and SI organ problems in conjunction with the lower hesea points: ¤ SI: LI 8 & ST 39 ¤ LI: LI 9 & ST 37 ¤ ST: LI 10 & ST 36 ¤ Shoulder, elbow & wrist pain issues, general achiness in these areas. ¤ Less dispersive & more tonifying than other LI points ¤ Epigastric & abdominal pain, ulcers, vomiting.
