I can name some different languages. I can compare my life to that of children from different cultures and countries. I know some facts about one country. I can compare different places and countries. I can imagine what it would be like to be a child in a different country. I have made contact with someone from a different country. I know how children of different cultures celebrate special days. I can listen to and compare stories from different countries. I can present information about an aspect of culture. I can compare attitudes towards everyday life.

I can do an action to show I understand. I can listen to someone carefully. I can compare the new language I am learning to English. I can plan and prepare an activity or presentation I can use a dictionary to look up spellings and new words. I can use actions and rhymes and play games to help me to remember things. I can write new words. I can practise with friends. I can use clues to help me work out the meanings of new words.

I understand why adjectives sometimes have to change their spelling. I can ask a question. I understand that nouns are either masculine or feminine. I know if somebody is saying that they are not feeling or doing something. I can recognise patterns. I can change things in a sentence to make my own sentence. I can say that I am not doing or feeling something. I understand that words might come in a different order. I can use my knowledge of the rules in the language to write or say a short passage.
