Ø inspecting and advising the client on the selection and feasibility of proposed sites, investigating base data and information relevant to the work and conducting and taking part in negotiations connected therewith. Ø preparing and refining the brief, in consultation with the client and interpreting the client’s objectives to arrive at an agreed brief of the project. Ø carrying out necessary studies for the project and reviewing with the client alternative design and construction solutions, evaluating their respective advantages and disadvantages and advising on all relevant aspects of obtaining statutory approvals necessary for the implementation of the project.

Ø advising the client on the site staff required for the project and estimating the cost of their employment and the duration of their employment.
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES Professional Ethics Landscape architecture services. q Basic Professional Services The basic services to be provided by the Landscape Architect shall be as follow: - a) Schematic Design Phase The Services to be provided during this phase are: Ø taking the client’s instructions and analysing the project brief; Ø preparing preliminary conceptual sketch proposals to interpret the project brief; Ø developing the preliminary conceptual sketch proposals, through collaboration and consultation with planners, engineers, architects, and/or other consultants involved in the project, into sketch designs to a stage sufficient to enable an application to be made for planning approval or approval in principle to comply with the relevant bylaws;

Ø preparing working drawings and submitting the same together with all necessary particulars to the relevant approving authorities to obtain landscape approval in support for statutory building approval;

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES Professional Ethics Landscape architecture services. q Basic Professional Services (continued) d) Contract Implementation and Management Phase (continued) Ø inspecting the works at periodic intervals so as to ensure that the works are being executed in general accordance with the landscape contract and to enable the landscape architect to certify the completion of the landscape works required in support of an application for a certificate of fitness for occupation from the relevant approving authority; Ø accepting on behalf of the client, the works at various stages of completion; and Ø providing a set drawings showing the landscape works as constructed (As-built drawings) and maintenance manuals as provided for in the landscape contract.

Ø Preparing preliminary technical evaluation of a project to enable the client to reach a decision on whether to proceed and the possible form and content of the project.

Designing outdoor furnishings and fixtures, graphics and signage in connection with the project and providing all necessary services for their execution. Ø Advising the client on the selection of works of art and commissioning of decorative works and supervising their installation. Ø Undertaking special studies in connection with the development of designs for the project. Ø Undertaking the design of irrigation system in connection with the project.

Ø Participating in special or prorated negotiations in connection with application for town planning or other statutory approvals including applications for conversions of title to land for development purposes, changes in land use/zoning, densities, waivers and appeals. Ø Amending the content, scope, design or detailed of a project, building or any of its parts upon the clients instruction after approvals at various stages have been given by the client and requiring the Landscape Architect to either amend or prepare new drawings or production of information after they have been finalised.

Ø Additional services arising from the failure of the client to award a contract in due time. Ø Conferring with solicitors, attending court, arbitration and enquiries in connection with statutory approvals.

Ø Providing periodic or full time site personnel’s for frequent or constant inspection of the works; Ø Providing the full services required for construction management in servicing as the overall coordinator where separate constricts for each trade are awarded; Ø Preparing a programmed for grounds maintenance and arranging maintenance contracts.
