• Latvians are the people that are situated between Estonia in North, Russia in East, Belorus in Southeast and Lithuania in South. Latvians came from India 9000 years before our era. They were peasants and cowtenders and need the land. For that reason were they often conguered. They were fighter. They must defended their land. The climate in Latvia is rough and the Latvian must hard work. For that reason are Latvians gloomy and uncommunicative. All life is for land devote.

• The temper Latvians is cool and they temper of Latvians of is cool aren‘t talkative. They laugh rarely and migrants think they are. angry but they are worried. The Latvians are intelligent and they can‘t stand swear-words and uncleanliness. They cultivate their land, woods gardens cities. They plants flowers and trees. The migrants who are coming to their country must appreciate it.

Latvian Literature • Shows this struggle for existence, for bread and harvesting. The Latvians are fond of their land. They spare neither strength nor resources and for this reason isn‘t the Latvian Literature happy. If the landfarmer must left his land it comes to tragedy. • In our time where the work on the land get hopeless get this problem in the literature to tragicomedy. • The migrants who comes to Latvia are staying in cities and they understand not the cause for the charakter and meaning of people. The reading of literature which reflect the history and impotance of land in Latvians life can be helpfull for understanding the mentality of Latvian people

It persists the mind the Latvian literature is a literature of peasants.

Mara Zalīte • Is an author who shows this problem from comic horizont. She is the favorite modern writer She writes several plays, combining actual and eternal motives, history and modern time, everyday and symbolic planes.

About Māra Zālīte • • Biography • Māra Zālīte was born on February 18, 1952 in Krasnoyarsk, in a family, which was politically repressed by a soviet regime. In 1956 her family returned to Latvia. In 1975 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Latvia. M. Zālīte has worked as a technical assistant at the Writers’ Union of Latvia, the leader of the Young Writers’ Studio, a poetry consultant at the magazine Liesma and the editor in chief of the literary magazine Karogs.

She has written poetry, plays, librettos for rock operas, collections of essays, texts for musical. Māra Zālīte is award of varios literature prises. Works of Mara Zalite are translated in German, Rassian, English, Estonian, Swedish and other languages.
