Guiding principles of the REC • Racial inequalities are prevalent throughout HE • UK HE cannot reach it’s full potential unless it can benefit from the talents of the whole population and until individuals from all ethnic backgrounds can benefit equally from the opportunities it affords • To achieve a long term institutional culture change, avoiding the deficit model • BAME staff and student are not a homogenous group • Intersectionality of staff and students – we have multiple identities!
