Flinn Safety Contract �Biology is a hands-on science where we will be engaging in many lab activities �Important to read and understand the safety contract prior to signing! �I will keep these signed contracts all year as well as posting them around the room �ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!!!!!!
General Rules �NO horseplay during/around lab equipment or activities will be asked to leave �Never work alone! Make sure Mrs. Walz or instructor is present in the room �Do not eat, drink or chew gum during laboratory activities �Know your location around the lab/room
General Rules �Dispose of chemicals properly according to instructor!! �If you do not finish a lab experiment discuss further instructions with instructor

Clothing
Accidents and Injuries �Report any accident (spill, breakage, etc. ) or injury to the instructor immediately �Eyewash station or safety shower needs to be used for at least 20 seconds
Handling Chemicals �All chemicals are to be considered dangerous �Do not touch, taste, or smell any chemicals (if instructed to, use the waft �Take only the amount you need �Never return unused chemicals to their original containers
Handling Chemicals �Hold containers away from your body �Never remove any chemicals or lab materials from room
Glassware and Equipment �Never handle broken glass! �Examine all glassware before use. Never use cracked or chipped or dirty glassware! �If you don’t know how to use an instrument, ASK INSTRUCTOR!
Heating Substances �Do not put anything into an open flame unless instructor tells you to do so �Never leave a lit burner unattended �Use tongs or heat-protective gloves to handle hot equipment
