CUSTOMERS WANT THE SAME FROM THEIR GREASE AS THEY DO FROM ALL LUBRICANTS The grease must perform its primary function: PROTECTION This will ensure that the equipment operates correctly It will maintain the equipment’s life Value-oriented customers want to lower their ‘Total cost of ownership’, meaning they want to: Minimise the cost of equipment failure (i. e. the costs of equipment repair or failure as well as production downtime) Minimise their maintenance costs Maximise their operational efficiencies Minimise the actual cost of the grease (minimal compared to equipment and maintenance) By choosing the correct grease (lubricant) the customer gets the most value at the lowest possible cost

SHELL GADUS GREASE DECISION TREE Bearing Size/Speed? What is critical for this Application? Temperatur es? Environmen tal Conditions? (most common) Medium Duty? (220 c. ST) S 3 Higher Temp? (up to 180 C) Heavy Duty? (460 c. ST) Light Duty? (100 c. ST) S 2 (up to 120 C) Water? Look for the letter A Shock Loads? Look for the letter D Step 1: What is most critical about the application? What kind of bearings, how big are they? How fast are they turning? Big bearings generally move slowly, but are designed to carry heavy loads Little bearings generally carry no load and turn very fast (ie electric motors) If you were going to use an oil, what viscosity would you recommend? Step 2: How hot does it run? What are the ambient temperature conditions? Step 3: What other conditions? Is the application running in/near Water? Is the application subject to shock (jolts)– like big bumps in the road every once in a while?

PINS & BUSHINGS, SHOCK LOADS, HEAVY DUTY SECTOR FIFTH WHEELS (SLIDING JOINTS) SPECIFIC: RECOMMENDED

PINS & BUSHINGS, SHOCK LOADS, HEAVY DUTY SECTOR FIFTH WHEELS (SLIDING JOINTS) SPECIFIC: RECOMMENDED GREASE: SHELL GADUS S 3 Where will you find this application? On Highway, Off Highway All kinds of heavy equipment have Pins & Bushings connections: Tractors, Trailers, Excavators, Dumpers, etc. Heavy Duty Fifth Wheels (a type of sliding joint) § CONSTRUCTION V 460 D§ 2 MINING § AGRICULTURE § FLEET Why is this grease Heavy Loads (high viscosity, 460 c. St recommended? base oil and Extreme Pressure additives) Addition of Solids to help with the Shock Loads (“D” in the name) Lithium Complex thickener: High Temperature, good mechanical stability, water resistant NLGI 2 (NLGI 1 in colder temps) What are the customer benefits? Extended equipment life (better equipment availability) SEE DVR FLYER: Reduced maintenance &§§ MQC#100 Dam Construction Project maintenance costs § $3. 8 M value delivered (this grease not recommended in the wheel bearings because of the solids, instead use Gadus S 3 V 220 C) Reduced grease consumption

WHEEL BEARINGS & GENERAL PURPOSE CHASSIS GREASE SECTOR SPECIFIC: § FLEET § AUTOMOTIVE RECOMMENDED GREASE: SHELL GADUS S 3 V 220 C (upsell of Gadus S 2 V 220) Where will you find this application? On Highway, Heavy Duty Trucks & Buses, Passenger Cars If it has rolls & rotates, it has Wheel bearings! General purpose chassis grease lubrication: axles, brake systems, universal joints, pins & bushings, door & hood hinges, etc. Why is this grease Medium Loads (220 c. St recommended? base oil and Extreme Pressure additives) Lithium Complex thickener: High Temperature, good mechanical stability, water resistant NLGI 2 (also available in NLGI 1 & 3) Colored Red (so you can easily see the new grease when regreasing, “C” in the name) What are the customer benefits? Simplified lubricant maintenance practices– one grease for wide range of applications, reduced maintenance & maintenance costs Longer bearing life Less regreasing (lasts SEE DVR FLYER: § GRE 00155 longer) § Longer Wheel Bearing Service Life § $65, 000 value delivered

PINS & BUSHINGS, SLIDING JOINTS IN WET, & SHOCK LOADED ENVIRONMENTS RECOMMENDED GREASE: SHELL GADUS S 2 Where will you find this application? SECTOR SPECIFIC: § CONSTRUCTION § AGRICULTURE V 220 AD § MINING (lower tier product) Why is this grease Medium Loads (220 c. St recommended? Pressure additives) Off Highway: Construction, Agriculture All kinds of heavy equipment have Sliding Joints and/or Pins & Bushings connections: Tractors, Trailers, Excavators, Dumpers, Dozers, etc. Excellent resistance to water washout (“A”) in the Sliding joints, pins & bushings NLGI 2 (also available in NLGI 1 & 3) base oil and Extreme name) because of Lithium Calcium thickener, along with good mechanical stability § (Higher operating temperature not required) Addition of Solids to help with the Shock Loads (“D”) What are the customer benefits? (this grease not recommended in the wheel bearings because of the solids, because of wet environment use Gadus S 2 V 220 AC instead) Grease stays in place, even in water SEE DVR FLYER: § Grease#003 Reduced grease consumption § Reduced wear in Reduced maintenance & maintenance costs Bucket Pins § $50, 000 value delivered
