There are over 80, 000 species of plants. Many of these have medicinal properties (they can be used to make important medicines).
https: //vimeo. com/4132707 Deforestation It is estimated that 20, 000 square miles of the Amazon is being destroyed every year. That’s an area bigger than Wales! Scientists and conservationists believe that about 17% of the Amazon has already been destroyed!
The Amazon is home to many indigenous tribes, some of whom have never been contacted by the outside world. They have lived in harmony with the forest for thousands of years. However, logging and agriculture provides many jobs for people in Brazil. It is thought about 204, 000 people are employed by the timber industry alone. The fruit, vegetables and beef produced by the farms also feeds many people in Brazil and around the world.
