2. Program Overview “People Come First” The Korean government is inviting outstanding overseas researchers to research institutes in Korea in order to support joint research via § Brain Pool (BP) Program § Korea Research Fellowship (KRF) Program 4
3. Brain Pool (BP) Since 1994, a total of 1, 909 mid-career researchers have been invited to research institutions in Korea to perform joint research projects. 3. Brain Pool (BP) 3. 1 Eligibility and Host Institutions § Eligibility : Scientists who have more than five years of experience in R&D outside of Korea after obtaining a Ph. D. ※ Korean nationals are required to reside outside of Korea when applying (except re-applying) § Host Institutions : Universities in Korea, Government-support Research Institutes, National and Public Research Institutes, Corporate Research Institutes, etc. 6

Brain Pool (BP) 3. 2 Level of Support § Support Type Program Period Type 1 6 -12 Months (Short Term) Type 2 (Long Term) ※ For corporate research institutes possible to apply for 3 -12 months 3 Years (2+1 Year) Personal Costs Max. of USD 177, 000/year ※ Support up to USD 177, 000/year out of total personnel costs agreed with the host institution in Korea Invitation Expenses Airfare, Moving Expenses, Domestic business travel expenses, etc. ※ Additional funding year will be decided after the evaluation for the first 2 years 7
4. Korea Research Fellowship (KRF) Since 2015, a total of 182 overseas early career researchers have been invited to research institutions in Korea and got long-term growth support. D. within the past five years ※ Korean nationals are required to belong to a foreign affiliate when applying § Host Institutions : Universities in Korea, Government-support Research Institutes, National and Public Research Institutes, Corporate Research Institutes, etc. 9

Korea Research Fellowship (KRF) 4. 2 Level of Support § Support Type Program Period Personal Costs Max. of USD 62, 000/year including personnel costs (max. of USD 44, 000/year), monthly rent fees for housing, etc. Type 1 (Overseas→Korea) 3 -5 Years Type 2 (For foreign researchers residing in Korea) Max. of USD 35, 400/year for personnel costs ※ Additional 20% or more of personnel costs need to be set by matching funds from the host institution 10
