What is IB? • The International Baccalaureate Organization was created in 1965 in Geneva, Switzerland • Korah became recognized as an IB World School in July of 2003; 2017 marked our twelfth graduating class! • Comprehensive two-year university preparatory Programme • Allows graduates to fulfill Ontario graduation requirements • Students graduate with two diplomas • Students study six subjects giving them a well-rounded education in the humanities and sciences
The IB Diploma Programme Model
The IB Core: Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Offered as a grade twelve course, TOK provides an opportunity for students to reflect on the nature of knowledge, gain awareness of their personal biases, and gain an appreciation for the diversity of perspectives in their own classroom and in society as a whole. Creativity, Action & Service (CAS) CAS is the heart of IB, emphasizing the importance of developing students who are reflective, willing to accept new challenges, aware of their responsibilities to their communities and the environment, and able to collaborate with others. Extended Essay (EE) A university level paper of 4000 words, each student chooses a subject, topic, and is assigned a mentor who helps guide the writing process over the 10 month process.

Korah’s IB Programme We offer the following courses, three at Higher Level (HL) and three at the Standard Level (SL): • English Literature (HL) • French (SL) • History (HL) • Chemistry (HL) • Mathematics (SL) • Choice of Music, Computer Science or Biology (SL)

Application Process: • Fill out application (available tonight or on-line) • Ask your grade 8 teacher for a reference • Attach your grade 7 final report card and most recent grade 8 report card • Submit by February 1 st • You will be notified by mail by the end of February
Other dates: • December 5 th or 6 th: Grade 8 Open House for all interested students • Late February: Acceptance & Wait-listing Letters • May 2019 TBA: Academic Olympics for all successful candidates
