Knowledge Organiser: Year 7 TEXTILES Artist knowledge : Marcia Baldwin Recall Equipment : My name is Marcia Baldwin and I am a full time professional artist specializing in Oil Paintings. Using stencils with fabric paint I love large formats and brilliant colour. My true passion is colour theory and design and how compositions can play an emotional role in the viewer. Art has always been a passion of mine. I knew from a very early age that art was going to be a strong influence in my life and that I wanted to know as much about art as I could possibly learn. Knowledge Organiser: Year 9 wall art Project TEXTILES St. Martins college of Art and Design, is one of the top universities in the UK for creative subjects Examples of outcomes : Core skills I am learning this term Technic used in this project: Felting Embroidery is the craft of decorating fabric or other materials using a needle to apply thread or yarn. Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as pearls, beads, quills, and sequins. In modern days, embroidery is usually seen on caps, hats, coats, blankets, dress shirts, denim, dresses, stockings, and golf shirts. Embroidery is available with a wide variety of thread or yarn colour. Some of the basic techniques or stitches of the earliest embroidery are chain stitch, buttonhole or blanket stitch, running stitch, satin stitch, cross stitch. Those stitches remain the fundamental techniques of hand embroidery today.
