KNOWING HOW TO BUILD AN ACTIVE SENTENCE MULTIGENRE
KNOWING HOW TO BUILD AN ACTIVE SENTENCE MULTI-GENRE GAME (SHEDDING & TRICK-TAKING)
OBJECTIVES At the end of this game, students can • Explain what is an active sentence; and • Construct an active sentence
AN ACTIVE SENTENCE IS THE OPPOSITE OF A PASSIVE SENTENCE. IN AN ACTIVE SENTENCE, THE SUBJECT PERFORMS THE ACTION OF THE MAIN VERB. IN A PASSIVE SENTENCE, THE ACTION OF THE MAIN VERB IS DONE TO THE SUBJECT. AN EXAMPLE: PENIAGA PASAR MALAM ITU MENJUAL BURGER RAMBLY YANG POPULAR DI KALANGAN PENDUDUK (FN+FK+FA+FKT)
AUDIENCE SECONDARY 2 NORMAL ACADEMIC & EXPRESS
THE FIRST STUDENT WHO SHED AWAY ALL HIS OR HER CARDS WINS!
HOW TO PLAY Step 1: This game can be played with 4 students. Step 2: Place all 44 theme cards in a deck, shuffle them and distribute them equally to students. Step 3: The first student chooses a frasa nama card of any theme in his or her hands and places it on the table faced up for all to see.
• Step 4: The remaining three students take turn (in an anti clockwise direction) to place a corresponding frasa kerja, frasa adjektif and frasa keterangan cards (not necessarily in this order) of the same theme on the table faced down so that no one would know if they have put in the correct card. • Step 5: While these three students take turn to place their cards on the table faced down, anyone can call their bluff by saying Tipu! • Step 6: If their bluff is called out correctly, they take all the card on the table. Alternatively, they can bail themselves out by constructing an active sentence based on both the frasa and themes of the cards on the table. If they do not manage to do this, they can have a half-bail if they construct an active sentence based only on themes of the cards on the table. Half-bail means they take only half of the cards on the table or 2 if there are 3 cards on the table. HOW TO PLAY
HOW TO PLAY • Step 7: If the bluff is incorrect, the caller has to take all the cards on the table. Alternatively, the caller can bail out from the penalty by constructing an active sentence as described in Step 6. • Step 8: The round stops every time a bluff is called whether correctly or incorrectly, or all the remaining three students have placed their cards on the table. If no bluff is called when the remaining three students have placed their cards on the table, all the cards are put away in a deck before a new round begins. • Step 9: A new round starts with the second student (in an anti clockwise direction) takes their turn to place a frasa nama card of any theme in their hands on the table faced up for all to see.
THESE ARE THEME CARDS 11 CARDS EACH SET = 44 CARDS
