Knowing God Personally God Loves Us 1 Just as there are physical laws that govern the physical universe, there are spiritual laws which govern your relationship with God. It is God Himself who has revealed these truths to us in His Word, The Bible. God LOVES us and created us to have a personal relationship with Him For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3: 16 Next

Knowing God Personally God wants Us to Know Him Personally 1 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17: 1 Us A New Life He Offers Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5: 17 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Knowing God Personally The Problem 2 Man was created to have fellowship with God; however, due to our stubbornness and self-will, we chose to go our own way, causing a breakdown in our fellowship with God. Man’s independent ATTITUDE toward God is the main obstacle keeping him from having a relationship with Him. The Bible names our self-will (that is characterized by an attitude of passive indifference) as SIN. Next

God’s attitude towards Mankind God 2 “…I have loved thee with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 33: 3 Sin Through the history of mankind, we have tried to approach God on our own terms. Some will deny His existence, others will do good deeds hoping that God will evaluate their actions and their “good” will outweigh their “bad”. Some others will try Religion, however none of these options are God’s path for a relationship with Him. Religio n Good works Philosophy But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. The Good News 3 There is nothing that we can do in our own strength to obtain a relationship with God. So, He provided the way (Jesus), a bridge for us to be restored to Him. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2: 8 -9 Next

What do I do now? 4 1. Believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Believe Because of our sin, all of us were condemned to eternal separation from God. However, Jesus took our place on the cross; He died and rose again from the dead, paving the path for a new relationship between God and mankind. And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, … Acts 16: 30 -31 Next

What do I do now? 2. Talk to God in Prayer: Receive 4 A salvation prayer is a personal conversation with God. However, it is not the prayer that saves; it’s the repentance and faith behind the prayer that lays hold of salvation. The prayer on the next slide serves as a guide only; make it your own words when talking to God. Next

The Option Is Yours 5 The Prayer Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and as the Bible says, I cannot save myself. I believe You are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Today, I trust You as my personal Savior, and by faith, I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. Thank you for being my Savior and bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Next
