Plagiarism copying • • language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions and then use them as their own original work without giving credit to the owner.
Public Domain • Author’s rights expired • Works authorized by the author • Works that did not meet the required copyright protection • After Life of author + 70 years • After 120 years from date of creation No permission is needed to copy or use public domain
Content on the Web copyright is automatic • Copyright governs the internet • Simply putting the paper in the electronic medium is copy righted • No need to post a notice of copyright
Orphan’s Work • • Works that does not have an owner Works that lacks insufficient information to identify the owner Works not registered Works' owner cannot be found

Liabilities for Copyright Infringement Payment required by the law: • Payment of profits • Payment of attorneys fees • Payment from $750 to $150, 000 • Payment of courts • Destruction of materials infringed • 1 to 5 years of jail
