The word communication comes from the Latin word “communis, ” which means common.
Communicating Effectively
The aim of communication is to achieve a common understanding and to achieve a balance between listening and sharing
- We spend over 70 % of waking hours sending/receiving messages. - Different people interpret what you say in different ways - No one has found a best method or set of communications principles guaranteed to be 100 percent effective - There is no formula of best communication that will work everywhere, every time, and for everybody - However understanding the communication, why it fails, what can be done it will increase the chances for success.
