weather • Kiribati is a rather dry country that doesn't experience cyclones but it can get strong winds and rain during their rainy period. And averages 28 centigrade.
Geography • Kiribati consist of 33 atolls in 3 groups of islands resting in the pacific ocean all within the same time zone. It has a land area of 811 sq km and no fresh water area it has 1, 143 km of coast line. Most of the atolls rest under 50 m’s with the highest point at 81 m, s on an uninhabited part of the island banada. It’s main resource is phosphate with some coconut crops that a sold to passing ships (the coconuts don’t come from an organised crop).
Environmental issues • Kiribati mainly consists of low lying atolls so will be heavily affected by the already rising sea levels. • Heavy pollution in a lagoon to the south of Tarawa atoll due to major migration and traditional practices.
Islanders and the environment • Kiribati is regarded as a holiday place for only the most adventuress people and so doesn't have a great amount of tourist. In this regard it is the same as it was 100 years ago with only the basic technology help get the advantages from the environment. Kiribati is highly religious but fatly unpopulated so is a great place to go to enjoy the climate, blue seas and palm trees.
government • Kiribati is a republic that includes a president elected by the public and is limited to 4 three year terms. The cabnit includes the president, a vise president and 10 ministers that are elected by the president.
