Kingdom of Ends The ends should a key force in how you should conduct yourself.
Ends justify the Means You have heard many times in your life “does the ends justify the means”. How do you define this? During World War 2 not many people knew much about the killing of the Jews in German concentration camps. The Allied Powers were afraid if the information was confirmed and publicized that it could prolong the war and cost more lives. So by not trying to get to the camps and sticking to the military plan…………. lives were saved? Did the ends justify the means? Basically sometimes you have to do terrible things to get a positive end results. “sometimes you have to deal with the devil to get what you want” Meaning in order to get a positive result, sometimes you have to do negative things.
Gandhi Influenced by Kant? When confronted with violence Gandhi believe you could fight it with non-violence. That is to say the human condition would eventually get tired of inflicting pain on another without a fight, that they would stop. Here is an fictitious example: Gandhi and his followers were faced with a tax on salt. They march hundreds of miles to get free salt from the ocean. While on there way they were faced with passing a barricade guarded by armed soldiers. Gandhi might advise his followers to walk through the barricade and NOT fight back if they were fired upon. Why? During the conflict his people were going to die. Was it better to die in peace or fighting? What example is it teaching? Gandhi and Dr. King proved that non-violent protesting can and does work. Kant would likely be proud of the concept and might even take credit for it!
