King Solomon Choosing the best
King Solomon Choosing the best We start with two familiar songs. After singing say a prayer of praise and thanks.
King Solomon Choosing the best We need God’s help to live wisely in a way that pleases him. Over the next three weeks we will learn about King Solomon, he is mainly remembered for being wise and for writing a lot of wise stuff in the Old Testament book of Proverbs. Our memory verse is from the New Testament book of James chapter 1 verse 5 (try to learn the first bit if you can) If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you
This game is about making wise decisions. Knowing stuff is better than having stuff! Pretend one person is the king or queen (take turns) and ask and answer these tricky questions. 1. Your Highness, I had the toy first, and she won’t give it back. Can you solve this for me? 2. Your Highness, my parents told me I have to eat broccoli, and I can’t stand it. Can I get out of this somehow? 3. Your Highness, I want to go to my friend’s house, and my parents say I can’t cross the street. How can I get to my friend’s house? 4. Your Highness, my teacher at school picks everyone but me when we raise our hands. May I please have some ideas on how to get the teacher to call on me? 5. Your Highness, everyone is taller than I am. So nobody picks me for their team. How can I get picked first? 6. Your Highness, I saw a kid on my street being really mean to his dog. He told me if I tell my parents what I saw, he’ll beat me up. Should I be afraid of him? 7. Your Highness, my parents wants me to give a bunch of my toys to a charity shop, and I don’t want to. I might use them again sometime. What should I do? 8. Your Highness, my birthday wish list is three pages long. My parents say that’s too much. But I want all this stuff. Should I really have to make my list shorter
Choosing the best Solomon listens and speaks Solomon was King David’s son. One night he had a dream; God spoke to him. Read 1 Kings chapter 3 verses 3 -15 then watch the Superbook video clip.
God’s Greatest Gift Using God’s wisdom Solomon needed wisdom many times while he was king. Watch the video clip which shows verses 16 -24. It stops at a dramatic part in the story. Then read verses 25 – 28!
King Solomon Choosing the best It’s not easy to choose what to do. It takes courage to say no to a friend or turn off a bad tv programme or video game. It takes determination to seek after and follow Jesus. Remember the memory verse from James 1 verse 5. Trust God to give you wisdom to do what is right. Ask him to help you. We’ve not sung this song from Sovereign Grace before but it fits perfectly for today’s lesson. God Bless, Colin
