King Saul is Chosen 1 Samuel 9: 1 – 10: 1 Today’s lesson is a follow on from Lesson 3 ‘We Want A King’ which we looked at back in January! The best way to approach today’s Bible passage is for an adult to read the whole passage just to get an overview of where the lesson is going. For the children I think the video clip followed by a picture story/rhyme is the best way to share how Saul was chosen to be King of Israel. We’ll follow the clip and pictures with some questions.

God had told Samuel what to do and Samuel obeyed God was going to tell Saul what to do because even kings need to learn to obey God. Saul had to learn to listen and obey God so he could be a good leader like Samuel.

God chose Saul to be king over his people. Samuel told Saul what God wanted him to do. Remind your wee one that it is very unlikely that God will choose them as a king or queen, but he has got a special plan for their lives. Pray for the people who tell them about God and also pray that as they grow up they will listen to His voice and His plans for their life.
