Science and Social Studies The kindergarten Science curriculum provides students with stimulating experiences in the life, earth, and physical sciences. In Social Studies the students learn about their community and time. They also learn about rules, goods, and services. This tapestry of curriculum is ongoing throughout the course of the year. 11

Positive Behavior Supports

Kindergarten Screening • May 8 th, 9 th and 10 th 8: 45 – 3: 00 • The four different rooms will screen your child in the following areas: vision, hearing, speech, and early literacy skills. Your child will receive a sticker on a card for each room he or she visits (and then a fifth sticker when they come back up to the sign-in table). • If there are concerns with any of the areas that your child was screened in, you will be contacted by one of the screening teachers or the guidance counselor. 17

Explorer Zone- Early Registration Discount begins May 1! • HCSD Before & After School Childcare program Grades K-5 7 am- start of school, After school- 6 pm Located at East Woods School Explorer Zone staff walks students to and from their building Breakfast available for purchase in the morning; healthy snacks provided in the afternoon. • Students play games, make crafts and have special themed activities each day of the week. • Explorer Days- Fun field trips when school is not in session! • History Museum, Bowling, Swimming, Akron Zoo.
