The children then write the sentences and have a chance to then assess and mark their own work. v. Spelling homework suggestions: Create some sentences with your child that include some of the spellings. ASSESSMENT v Reading 1: 1 benchmarking to assess whether children are ready to move up to the next level. v Ongoing informal assessment against milestones v O- Track- a document which allows us to regularly assess whether children are meeting the milestones. This will be shared with you at key points across the year. v More details to follow on how parent/teacher updates will take place this year.
Ways to help v Name everything v Try to make doctors/dentist/optician appointments after school or in the holidays where possible. v Unfortunately it is not currently possible to invite parents into class to help however there are lots of ways that you can help support your child at home by firstly encouraging them with their homework and providing lots of opportunities for them to increase their reading stamina through regular reading. Playing games can also really help with their number fluency.
Communication v The weekly newsletter is a valuable source of information and updates of dates and news so please do take the time to read it each week. v Although times are very different at the present we would like to reassure you that we are still very much contactable. Please do contact us if you have any questions or worries (however small they may seem). We are always happy to help. v The best way to contact us is via email or telephone in the first instance. However, there is a possibility of face to face meetings can be held if appropriate.
SELF ISOLATION HELP v. If you need to self isolate then please see the Kimbers’ class page for home learning resources and details: https: //longsutton. hants. sch. uk/parents/class-pages/kimbers
