KEY STAGE 4 • The purpose of Key Stage 4 is to build upon the Key Stage 3 foundation whilst at the same time prepare our students for Post 16 provision. • We do this by continuing to develop their academic knowledge and skills alongside their vocational knowledge and skills. • Please read through the following information, I will be in touch to discuss this information further and to answer any questions you may have relating to Key Stage 4. THURSDAY Our Thursday curriculum is accredited by the ASDAN Bronze award. In year 10 and 11 students will complete a term on each of the following modules. Film It Digital Technicians Radio Station Cook It Beefeater Grow It Hulme Garden Centre Animal Sanctuary
Over the period of Key Stage 4 students will each complete at least one of the following work experience placements for a term. Cook It Beefeater Film It Radio Station Grow It Hulme Garden Centre Animal Sanctuary
FRIDAY MORNING At the beginning of each year students choose one of the following options. Arts Award Students take part in a range of performance based activities Citizenship Students visit a day care centre and work with the users. D of E Students complete the D of E Bronze award (includes an overnight expedition).
FRIDAY AFTERNOON - CREATIVE Our Friday afternoon curriculum is accredited by the ASDAN Bronze award. In year 10 and 11 students will complete a term in each of the following subjects. Music Drama Art
ASSEMBLY Every Friday we have a department assembly which is led by one of our students.
TRAVEL TRAINING If appropriate students will be trained to independently travel to and from school.
UNIFORM
LETTERS Due to the high number of work experience trips in Key Stage 4 we send a lot of letters home, please ensure you read and return these letters. Failure to do so will prevent your child from attending these trips.
POST 16 CAREERS ADVISOR In year 11, students and parents / carers will be supported by a careers advisor who will assist you in making decisions about post 16 provision.
