Realising Your Aspirations… • Students progress into work, further training, apprenticeships at such companies as Specsavers and Land Rover and enjoy great Gap Year experiences • Students go on to take up places at a wide range of institutions across the country • Students apply for and are successful in gaining places on competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, Engineering and Veterinary Science and at Russell Group universities

Fran “I did a BSc in Psychology with study abroad (Australia) at Reading University then an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience at UCL. I’m now at EY in London working in Global Mobility consulting. In January I am moving to do employee health and well-being with a focus on mental health. This will be a consulting role so help for many different companies and organisations. ” Ashley I've had quite an eclectic mix of jobs since I've been working in TV so mine's probably one of the stranger CV's. Pastoral Support • Year 12 are in Tutor Groups, allowing for consistent pastoral support. • Each student over the course of the year has a number of one-to-one meetings with their tutor. • Tutor group activities are delivered including transition skills for 6 th form, enrichment, PSE and inter-form challenges. • PSE looks at relevant issues such as driving safety, money management and post-18 destinations.

Pastoral Support Year 13 have a Personal Tutor, who they meet once every 2 weeks on a one-to-one basis. This allows students to talk about post-18 plans and progress with studies. There is a strong sense of community with very supportive staff. Student well-being is at the centre of our ethos. There is an “open door” policy with the Head of Sixth Form and each Head of Year for students and parents.

Changes to Post 16 All A Levels are now linear– what does this mean? These are subjects which will be examined IN FULL at the end of the TWO years of study. An AS qualification can be sat at the end of the first year and certificated but if a student continues to the second year, the AS results will be discarded and be replaced by the final linear papers’ results.

Post 16 Opportunities Day – 6 th December 2019 We invite students who are not currently attending Kesgrave to join us for our Post 16 day when they may attend taster sessions in 2 or 3 Level 3 subjects along with current Year 11 students at Kesgrave. New students - Please collect a card from Mrs Smith after the presentation has ended

Applying for a place We invite applications from all prospective students The Prospectus and application form are now available online at: www. kesgrave. suffolk. sch. uk Hard copies of the prospectus are available for applicants new to Kesgrave, tonight. For current students online applications will be available in January.

Entry Requirements • At least six Level 4 or above GCSE grades • We require a Level 4 in the subject you wish to study if you have studied this at GCSE • For new subjects not already studied at GCSE, a Level 4 or above in a related subject will be considered • We require a Level 5 in Maths to study Maths, Physics and Chemistry and Level 5 in English for any English course at A Level.

Maths and English at Level 4 at GCSE • ALL students are expected to achieve at least a level 4 at the end of Year 11 and where they do not it may affect their ability to pursue courses either at sixth form, college or apprenticeship routes • We strongly advise students to remain focused on these subjects to ensure they do not have to repeat these at Post 16 level

INTERVIEWS AND OFFERS • Interviews for Kesgrave High School applicants will take place on Friday 14 th February 2020 from 9. 30 am and parents are requested to attend this. Those on the KHS Ski Trip will have their interviews deferred until after half term. • For new students, a reference from your school will be sought on receipt of your application form and an interview arranged for you during April 2020. Parents are requested to attend this.

SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENING Refreshments are available in the Thomas Theatre foyer & the Sixth Form Centre. Toilets are located downstairs in all three areas A lift is located in the Sixth Form Centre for visitors who need to use this facility. Please ask for assistance.
