Kelly Mc. Donald-Jarosz MRT(R), MBA, MEd (Candidate), BSc, BA PROFESSIONAL MASTERS OF EDUCATION PME 810 – INTEGRATED PLANNING, INSTRUCTION, AND ASSESSMENT
Educational Background I started my post-secondary career with a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. Upon completion of this degree, I went to the University of Toronto and The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences in Toronto. Here I took a Bachelor of Science in Medical Radiation Sciences to become a licensed x-ray technologist. While working as an x-ray tech, I completed a diploma in Business. I found from that diploma, that I really liked Business, so I embarked on my Masters of Business Administration. While doing my masters, I simultaneously completed a diploma in Human Resources. I then decided to take my Masters of Education because I began working in management at an Ontario College and was tasked with creating and overseeing an online course.
Work History As mentioned, I am a licensed x-ray technologist. I have worked in the healthcare industry full-time for the past 10 years. I have simultaneously worked full-time for the past 3 years, in management, at an Ontario College. At this time, I am beginning a new chapter, as a manager in a new hospital closer to my home.
Working with Students As an x-ray technologist, I oversee clinical students on their placements. I assess their clinical skills and assist in the determination as to whether they should receive their x-ray license. I have taught trauma simulation at the Michener Institute for a couple of years as a guest lecturer. In the College environment, I developed and facilitated the deliver of a new Safety Course for students. It is an online course that all students are required to take prior to attending an unpaid education placement experience. One day, I hope to teach part-time as a College or University Professor.
Interests 3 kids 2 cats 1 husband Obsessed with work And painting furniture Even more obsessed with post-secondary education (as may have been evident)…. . I love learning new things. Therefore, I am looking forward to learning more about Integrated Planning, Instruction and Assessment in this course.
What I Hope to Learn Because I have had little experience in this field (no Bachelor of Education), I am interested in learning more about how plans are made based on curriculum requirements, and how we ensure we are meeting these curriculum requirements with our lesson plans and assessments.
