Kazakhstan concept of lowcarbon development «Kaz. NIIEK» Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Environment Alexey Cherednichenko
National policy on climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency • country has committed itself in 2020 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% relative to the baseline in 1992 and by 25% - by 2050. • To fulfill these obligations must implement policies to reduce energy consumption, production and transportation of coal, oil and gas production and utilization of associated resources rehabilitation and upgrading of existing facilities to increase efficiency by 3 - 5 points and the extension service for 10 - 15 years. • improving the efficiency of joint production of electricity and heat and power station boilers with the introduction of modern steam and gas turbines • transfer stations to cleaner fuel (eg from coal to gas or fuel oil to natural gas, biofuels, etc. )
National priorities of Kazakhstan • improving the efficiency of heating systems installation of meters final heat consumption and thermal valve controlled by a central heating decrease in energy intensity of production in industry and construction sector • introduction of new technologies in the cement industry - cement production by dry method local improvement of technologies and energy conservation measures • renewable energy reducing gas losses in distribution networks.
The dynamics of GHG emissions for 1990 -2008.
