Karl Benz is a German engineer, inventor of the car, the pioneer of the automotive industry.
Karl Benz was born on November 25, 1844 in the city of Mühlburg in the family of the train driver. After graduating from primary school in Mulbyrg, Karl entered the technical high school in 1853, and then studied at the Polytechnic University. In 1864, at the age of 19, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
In the following years Karl worked in different plants, tried different jobs.
In 1883 Benz founded a company producing petrol engines. Here Benz built the first own car.
The car had 3 metal wheels and the engine was in the back. The car was completed in 1885 and was given the name «Motorwagen» .
The car was patented in 1886, tested on the streets and then unveiled at the Paris World's Fair in 1887. The sale of the cars began in 1888. A subsidiary was soon discovered in Paris, where the cars were better sold out.
On August 1, 1888, Carl Benz's first driver's license was issued.
In 1888, Carl Benz's wife took the car and went on a trip without her husband's knowledge. That day it covered 106 km.
On the way, Bertha Benz bought petrol several times in the pharmacies and repaired the car. A few times she had to negotiate inclines and push the car up the mountain, and Berta advised the man to install the transmission in the car.
In the years 1886 -1893 about 25 vehicles were sold.
In 1893 the car "Victoria" with the engine of 3 HP with four wheels with a double seat was created. Its speed was 17 -20 km / h.
In 1894 Karl Benz started to manufacture the “Velo” car model. The Velo car took part in the first Paris - Rouen automobile races.
In 1895 the first truck and the first bus in history were created.
The company "Daimler-Benz" was founded in 1926 and all cars were renamed "Mercedes-Benz". The company's logo became a three-pointed star.

On November 25, 1928, Carl Benz celebrated its 85 th anniversary. The special exhibition of cars was organized in his honor. The designer felt that he was still full of energy, but he died unexpectedly soon.
Karl Benz died on April 4, 1929 in Ladenburg from pneumonia
