California Tribal Advisory Committee (CA-TAC): updates from Spring 2020 Meeting materials posted at the TAC website. Feedback submitted for consideration into the next round of Program rules. Feedback incorporated at the state level. CA-TAC Mission: To promote the conservation and preservation of natural resources on Native American land, to educate, advise, and inform American Indian land owners, tribes, and tribal groups of available assistance to promote strong and stable tribal resource management programs, and to assist the Natural Resources Conservation Service in fulfilling its trust responsibilities by maintaining communication about how Natural Resources Conservation Service programs can better meet their needs.
NRCS California Updates for Tribes to Consider – 2020 has been a great year for NRCS California Tribal Programs with a record funding allocation. – As part of finding creative ways to work with tribes on priority issues a Food Sovereignty Summit is being considered for Fall 2023. Please reach-out if you would like to partner for the Summit. – California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD’s) 2020 Conference includes a tribal training for Resource Conservation District (RCD) staff. – Working Effectively With American Indians (WEWAI) which is a training for NRCS staff that was postponed due to in-person meeting restrictions will resume virtually.
