Just-In-Time System (即時管理系統) • Introduction The term just-in-time is used to refer to a production system in which both the movement of goods during production and deliveries from suppliers are carefully timed so that at each step of the process the next (usually small) batch arrives for processing just as the preceding batch is completed - thus, the name just-in-time. The result is a system with no idle items waiting to be processed, and no idle workers or equipment waiting for items to process. The JIP approach was developed at the Toyota Motor Company of Japan by Taiichi Ohno (大野耐一) and several of his colleagues.
