Location and Size Location: Io is 5. 8 million miles from earth. It would take about 6 years to reach Io. To get there you would have to dodge Mars. To save fuel we would catch other planet’s orbits. Size: Io is smaller than the earth, but bigger than the earth’s moon. We took an educated guess and said that it would take 24 hours to explore Io.
