Jupiter’s Moon Io

Location and Size Location: Io is 5. 8 million miles from earth. It would take about 6 years to reach Io. To get there you would have to dodge Mars. To save fuel we would catch other planet’s orbits. Size: Io is smaller than the earth, but bigger than the earth’s moon. We took an educated guess and said that it would take 24 hours to explore Io.

Surface • The surface of Io is mainly volcanoes. • Io has about 400 active volcanoes.

Atmosphere q. Io has no significant atmosphere. q. This means that we can’t use a parachute to land on Io. q. Luckily, in our mission, we aren’t landing on Io.

Temperature • Io’s temperature is very low. • It is about -280 to -290 degrees Fahrenheit. • Even though it is super cold, Io also has the hottest temperature besides the sun. • It is amazing that it can have very hot and very cold temperatures.

Spacecraft Mission v. Our destination is Jupiter’s Moon Io. v. We will be collecting lava samples. v. We will hover above Io and then collect samples. v. Tubes that fold out will suck the samples in and put them in a special room. v We will store the sucking tubes in the bottom of the rocket. v. Our mission will be manned.
