INTRODUCTION • A CPL is generally a section commander • Responsible for efficient running of a section • Cadet CPL hold rank / status only within AAC • A CPL addressed as “Corporal” by all ranks, junior ranks stand to attention. Slide 3

PROMOTION • The unit has a vacancy • Successfully complete a JNCO course • Be deemed competent by Unit on: - all training objectives of AAC Cadet Training TMP 2002 - all training objectives of AAC Cadet Radio Communications Training TMP 2002 • Attended at least 1 period of continuous training of at least 7 days. • Have attended and been deemed competent in Tier 1 B or above. LEADERSHIP • Leads and commands section • High standard of discipline, dress and bearing, expect it of others • Know your job, share hardships and take a personal interest in problems of cadets • Ensure cadets advise them of problems and make sure they are fixed Slide 5

LEADERSHIP • Supervise, ensure behaviour is appropriate to circumstance you are in • Give duties to section members, ensure task is completed AND report such to task giver Slide 6

ADMINISTRATION • Know section, platoon and unit admin procedures and SOPs • Ensure all cadets aware of SOPs and adhere to them • May be called upon to call, mark and give PL roll to PL SGT • Make up lists of stores needed by your section • Receive stores from PL SGT and give out to section fairly • Get to know each member of section Slide 7

TRAINING • Deliver training, usually drill related • Monitor training standards, look out for cadets who should be promoted • Conduct section drill • Fault check at all times dress, drill, behaviour of section • Build teamwork, loyalty, discipline, esprit de corps. Slide 8

TRAINING • Monitor physical fitness of platoon • Conduct “soldiers 5” or concurrent training in unplanned down time • Train yourself to the next rank • Prepare to attend further promotional courses • Keep your general, cadet and military knowledge up to date Slide 9
