What does a dusky dolphin eat? By congregating in large groups dusky dolphins are able to trap vast schools of fish so they have the best opportunity to feed, by travelling through the waters in a line and pushing the shoal into an area where it is trapped. Prey depend largely on the area in which the dusky dolphins are feeding but they most commonly consume anchovies, sardines and mackerel in shallower waters, squid at middepths and larger prey including hake and octopus in deeper ocean.
Dusky Dolphins have Enemies? Dusky dolphins have quit a few enemy's/predators. Pods of killer whales ( to which they are related) are the main predators of the dusky dolphin along with some large species of shark that venture into the shallower coastal water.
How does the dusky dolphin protect itself? Dusky dolphins have lots, and lots of ways to defend itself. They sometimes use their head, beak, and tail to bonk the enemy's head or something because all dolphins are really smart. They can swim so fast that it would just run away, but if the predator or enemy would fallow they swim so fast that when their tail moves back and forth it makes bubbles in the water and it goes in the enemy’s face and distracts it and there was only one dolphin.
