Big Ed Beckley “Big Ed” Beckley was born and raised in Scott City, Kansas, a town of 3, 500 people. Beckley himself calls the area “pucker brush” and as he says it is “ 4 miles west of nowhere!” It was this humble beginning that started Big Ed Beckley’s quest for an adventurous life. As an adult Beckley’s inspiration to be a high flying entrepreneur began after he watched Evel Knievel jump at the Kansas State Fair in 1971. After two years of study and hard work, Beckley at 23 years old took his first jump in 1973 and drew a huge crowd of 2, 555 people, more than twice the population of the City he was performing in! Large crowds followed him to places like the SILVERDOME, SUPERDOME, LA COLISEUM, BC PLACE, METRO DOME, KING DOME, BUSCH STADIUM, THE SPECTRUM, 3 RIVERS STADIUM, and MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. In MADISION SQUARE GARDEN, Beckley had to start in the security man’s restroom to get speed enough to clear all the cars he was jumping. At 63 years old, Beckley is billed as the “Worlds Largest Motorcycle Jumper”, yet even bigger is Beckley’s spirit and personality. Big Ed Beckley has always been a person of great drive, with a will to do whatever it takes to defy the gravity of the odds that surround him. He is the “Real Deal”.

Big Ed restarts his career In the Fall of 2011, Ed decided to jump again, using his old jump bike that had been on display since 1994 – The bike seemed to have other plans. During the first jump of his “revived” career, Ed crashed hard in Salt Lake Jan. 5 th, 2012. Even after the accident, Big Ed had no broken bones. Severely bruised and battered he walked out of the Hospital after only 2 days in intensive care and 2 days in the trauma center. His Doctors and the entire Hospital staff were amazed at how tough this guy was. More determined than ever, Beckley made a deal with Big Twin Racing Company & Curt Winter to construct a 2000 cc Harley-Davidson powered jump bike. With a new workout routine and weight loss of over 140 lbs. , Beckley has not crashed to this day! With Curt’s design he has completed 14 successful jumps in front of THOUSANDS of people. He also has set a new indoor World’s Record with a jump over 8 semi trucks parked side by side!

ON July 20, 1969 APOLLO 11 LANDED ON THE MOON Big Ed’s Team of engineers is lead by Doug Malewicki, who was an engineer on the Apollo mission working on both the Apollo docking structure and Solid Rocket Powered Launch Escape System 5 years later on September 8, 1974 Evel Knievel attempted a considerably shorter rocket flight of 1, 530 feet and failed. This was touted as a motorcycle “jump” but was not a drivable motorcycle. Was there a difference in technology for each project?
