Pairwork Split the words / phrases on the worksheet ‘Offensive or OK’ into sets of respectful and disrespectful phrases. (5 minutes) Check with another pair then whole class feedback using the next slide.

1 st Groupwork In groups of 4 consider how some of the words would make you feel if used in a sentence directed at them. For example, discuss favourite books, TV programmes, sports teams, etc and try out some of the phrases ( I hate that team… You must be joking… That’s an interesting point…) add to the terms if you wish.

Video Conference Presentation Presented in your first VC and you will see your partner school’s presentation – 5 -10 minutes in length - you can choose any media to present your information. Consider your first thoughts and plans. The Brief: In your presentation you need to show what it is like to be a student at JC and a member of your local community. It needs to communicate clearly : - what JC is like - the things that are special for you (special places / people / times of Year / meals ) - beliefs and practices that are important for your community - what you like to do outside school - what you like to celebrate about your community Reference to the issues identified by the group as the main global concerns in lesson 4 – leave this until lesson 4 Things that you can include: Role play, Story board, Interviews, Collage, Poems, Songs, Rap, Documentary, Spoken presentation, Pictures. Or combine them all into a simple video using Photostory 3 / Microsoft Movie Maker – even a Powerpoint presentation.
