July 2020 Happy children are successful children
Welcome to July’s Values assembly A value is a principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. It helps us to be the best person we can be.
How did exploring the value of HONESTY guide your thinking and behaviour?
In JULY, we will be exploring the value of SPORTSMANSHIP
WHAT IS SPORTSMANSHIP? Sportsmanship is fair and generous behaviour or treatment of others, especially in a sporting contest.
Treating others with respect Treating a game with respect
You demonstrate good sportsmanship when you show respect for yourself, your teammates, and your opponents, for the coaches on both sides, and for the referees, judges, and other officials.
Having good Sportsmanship not only makes you a great athlete; it makes you a great person!

HOW CAN SPORTMANSHIP HELP YOU? Sportsmanship helps you to accept the outcome of anything.
HOW CAN SPORTMANSHIP HELP YOU? For example, when it comes to losing, good sportsmanship means congratulating the winners. Also, it means accepting the game's outcome without complaint and without excuses.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU WIN? Everyone feels great when they win, but it can be just as hard to be a good sport when you've won a game as when you've lost one. Good sportsmanship takes maturity and courage. Appreciate that the other players tried just as hard as you did.

As we reflect, think about how SPORTSMANSHIP makes the world a better place to be.
A prayer for all of us Here in our school Let us be peaceful at all times. Let our rooms be full of happiness, respect for each other and belief in ourselves. Let love be in our hearts With kindness and compassion for all. Let us remember In learning together, We grow together And succeed together.
A FINAL THOUGHT … By showing good Sportsmanship, you are building self-belief in others and demonstrating values of kindness, honesty, respect and compassion.
