July 2010 doc. : IEEE 802. 11 -10/0921 r 0 Current Status of China

July 2010 doc. : IEEE 802. 11 -10/0921 r 0 Current Status of China mm-Wave Standard • Issues of “Gigabit Wireless Network in mm-Wave bands” in China – Exporting Issues: Test equipment in the range of 60 GHz (above 50 GHz) to be exported to China is under pending • It implies that products compliant to IEEE 802. 11 ad may not be manufactured or sold on China market – Frequency Band Issues: It is being under consideration in China WPAN mm-Wave project group to use the mm-Wave band from 42 GHz to 50 GHz as well • Discussion with Chinese Authority (SRRC) is ongoing – Performance Issues: Product compliant to IEEE 802. 11 ad may not be able to support enough number of networks simultaneously (less than 3 networks) in China Market • Discussion with SRRC to request further opening spectrum from 56 GHz to 58 GHz or 64 GHz to 66 GHz may be needed Submission 4 Eldad Perahia, Intel Corporation

July 2010 doc. : IEEE 802. 11 -10/0921 r 0 Rationale for Liaison •

July 2010 doc. : IEEE 802. 11 -10/0921 r 0 Rationale for Liaison • Open up dialog between IEEE 802. 11 60 GHz and Chinese mm. Wave standards development efforts • Strive for commonality between standards • Mutual assistance in addressing regulatory bodies • Encourage companies and individuals to attend mutual meetings and actives (IEEE and CWPAN).
