JROTC - Govertment & Public Administration Pathway Primary Proposal: JROTC Completion Certficate Ø Credential: JROTC Completion Certificate (Currently recognized in the State of Alabama) Ø Business / Industry Applicability: Ø Government Services (Local, State, National) Ø Armed Services offer promotion to E-2 or E-3 (Service Dependent) Ø Essential Workforce Development Skills Applicable in Every Career Field Ø Relationship to Curriculum: All areas of eligibility criteria are curriculum based (both current and new) and exist in each of the four service component JROTC curriculums. JROTC & CTE – Potential Pathways JROTC Credential (Completion Certificate) Requirements Ø Years of JROTC Participation: Cadets must complete a minimum of three years of JROTC credit. Completion is defined as earning a minimum of one JROTC course credit in an academic year. Ø Additional Minimum Criteria: • • Must have actively participated in at least one required Service Learning/Community Service Project. Must have earned a Cadet Good Conduct Ribbon. Must have completed a minimum of 30 hours of Community Service. Must have an overall GPA of 2. 5 (un-weighted) in all subject areas. Must have a minimum of 75% grade average in JROTC coursework. Must have successfully completed at least 3 categories of the 5 tested areas in the Physical Fitness Challenge. * Must have participated as an active member in at least two extracurricular/co-curricular/leadership development criteria activities in JROTC or any other school sponsored activity (i. e. , band, chorus, athletic team, school club, etc. ). JROTC & CTE – Potential Pathways JROTC Credential (Completion Certificate) Requirements (Continued) • Must have consistently and properly worn the cadet uniform while meeting service specific grooming standards. • Must have served in a leadership position. • Must have no more than two major discipline infractions as defined by the school administration. • May not have any official misconduct involving weapons or drugs. • Senior Instructors may waive no more than two of the listed criteria above. • Cadets must be approved by Senior Instructor to receive the certificate. Using the total person concept, instructors have the discretion not to award the certificate if the cadet does not demonstrate good citizenship characteristics while a student. * Cadet may not be denied certificate due to a preexisting medical condition.
