Journey Map The journey map is a high level guide that provides a pictorial representation of the journey required to make the portfolio’s vision a reality. It is a useful way to summarise a complex portfolio or project on one page. Its visual nature means it is suitable for Board meetings or other key stakeholder meetings. It will be a constant communications tool that should be referred to regularly over time, and to track milestones throughout the life of the XXX programme. Questions to ask when completing a journey map • Is the portfolio structured by: • geography? • organisation / department? • function / process? • What are the milestones in each year / phase? • Does the journey map depict activities or measures of success along the way (e. g. , productivity levels, employee satisfaction levels)? • What mechanisms will be in place to measure progress and determine ‘go / no-go’? © Issoria 2019 Example of visual journey map on the next page
