Student Eligibility Flowchart Participation in the College Credit Plus program will require an application and standardized test scores. Each college establishes its own criteria and deadlines for the application process. February 8 th is the last date for ACT Course Participation will be determined by the college and student subscores on their ACT/SAT. Student Eligibility Assessment Testing

Allowable Courses • Students may take courses at the high school, college campus, or online • Exceeding the maximum 30 (combined high school and college) credit hours will place the student outside of the College Credit Plus Program which creates self-pay (Option A). – Example: Student has 28 hours for the year; adds a 3 hour course and is now at 31 total hours for that year. The Family is charged for the 3 hour course that put the student over 30 total hours
Scheduling SCHEDULING CONTINUED • It is best to schedule College Credit Plus classes in the morning or the afternoon to meet other athletic or academic needs. *This is sometimes difficult because of course offerings* • A semester college course of 3 or more credits is equivalent to 1 high school credit. • College courses in the same subject area must be weighted equally to Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes. *At JBSD all course are 1 credit*
Failing/withdraw FAILING/WITHDRAWAL • Failing a College Credit Plus course will result in an “F” on the college and high school transcript with no credit for the class. Underperforming Students • If a student receives a failing grade at the end of the college course; or if the student withdraws from or drops the college course subsequent to the 14 th calendar day after the particular course begins, the student/parent is financially obligated to pay for tuition, books and fees. • Failing a College Credit Plus course could potentially affect graduation. *PLEASE BE AWARE OF WITHDRAWAL DATES*
Graduation requirements GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS • It is your responsibility to discuss course alignment with your JBSD counselor about … – Graduation Requirements – Honors Diploma Requirements – Valedictorian/Salutatorian Requirements – Athletic Eligibility • The grade you earn in a college course will be applied to your high school and college transcripts.
