“John begins his Gospel by speaking about the Word – but he does not explain at first who or what the Word is. A word is a unit of speech by which we express ourselves to others. But John is not writing about speech but rather about a Person. That Person is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God has fully expressed Himself to mankind in the Person of the Lord Jesus. By coming into John 1: 14…the Word became flesh

Why is it necessary to believe Jesus is God? 1. Only God could bear the full penalty for sin 2. The whole of Scripture is designed to show that no human being, no creature, could ever save man 3. Only someone who was truly and fully God could be the one mediator between the Father and humanity John 1: 14…the Word became flesh
