In the Beginning • Johannes Kepler lived from 27 Dec 1571 -15 Nov 1630 • He was a sickly child and his parents were poor • He was born in in Weil der Stadt, Württemberg, in the Holy Roman Empire of German Nationality. • The weak and sickly child was abandoned by his father Heinrich in early childhood. • Because his family moved around so much, it took Kepler twice as long as usual to get through elementary school. • But his evident intelligence earned him a scholarship to the University of Tübingen to study for the Lutheran ministry.

How he died • Johannes Kepler, who was the first to explain planetary motion correctly, was born on December 27, 1571 and died November 15, 1630 in Regensberg, Germany after an illness. • He was 59. The destruction of the churchyard where he was buried has resulted in the loss of the location of his grave.
