Biography: Johann Hamza was an Austrian painter who was born in Teltsch, in June 21 st, 1850. He settled in Vienna to study in the Academy with the Professor Eduard von Engerth. Hamza was a painter of figurative genre, narrative works that depict the social life of the wealthy bourgeoisie of Vienna. Many of his works portray weddings and baptisms in the interiors of richly decorated churches, or social gatherings in the homes of de city of Vienna. Hanza exhibited in Vienna, Dresden and Munich, from 1879 to 1890, and obtained great success and fame. He died in Vienna, on December 22 nd, 1927. Interieur mit Porträtbild, 1927
