Postman - something about this job It is really hard. A postman must be in a good shape, intelligent and stress-resistant. Every day a postman must walk many kilometres so that he could deliver letters, newspapers and shipments.
A little bit of history/Postman-earlier The United States Postal Service has a long and illustrious history–it was one of the few government jobs explicitly written into the Constitution. In the middle part of the 19 th century, it offered a stable career with decent pay and benefits to African-Americans who, due to private discrimination, faced few options elsewhere.
Postman-now Texts, emails, online chatting and social media. Also paying bills with electronic payments and online portals. Mobile capabilities are going to accelerate this trend. The United States Postal Service has recently cut one third of its workforce.
Dead-end job A lot of people read the news on the Internet so they don’t buy newspapers. The internet is faster and cheaper than post. Technological development has a major impact on dead-end jobs. Lots of people send SMS messages instead of Christmas cards and letters. More people choose to correspond via email or text messages, dramatically slashing the amount of mail and reducing the need for postal services.
At present postman is a dead-end job. Possibly in a few years this profession will not exist. It is expected that there will be at least 28% fewer postal carriers within the next decade. It is because the Internet is comfortable, fast and people often choose it instead of post.
