Chromebooks Each student will be issued a CMS Chromebook for academic purposes upon completion of the following: ● Required Use and Internet Safety Policy Form Signed ● Chromebook Student/Parent Agreement Signed ● Web Tool Use (K-8) Permission Slip Signed (13 and Under) All of these forms must be turned in to your child’s Homeroom teacher (3 rd block) Guidelines: ● Students must carry Chromebooks in bookbags using two straps ● Students must comply with Student Code of Conduct when using Chromebook. ● Students will not take Chromebooks home.
BYOT Bring Your Own Technology • Appropriate use of student personal devices are outlined in the JMR BYOT Policy on school website and student planners. • Students and parents must sign and return form in order for students to use personal devices. Read carefully. • Consequences for non-compliance outlined in policy. • Students should keep technology in locker until needed. • Students are expected to apply Digital Citizenship procedures at all times.
Good to Know. . . Morning Students are not allowed to enter the building until the 7: 45 bell unless they have scheduled tutoring or a meeting with a teacher. Breakfast Provided free of charge to all students from 7: 45 -8: 05 Late Arrival/Tardy bell is 8: 10 am Any child arriving at 8: 10 or later MUST be accompanied into the building by a parent and signed in at the Front Office
Dismissals & Absences Early Dismissal • Student must bring a note signed by a parent to the Welcome Desk in the morning stating what time they are leaving that day. • Student will receive an early dismissal pass to show to the appropriate teacher when it is time to leave class. • Student must turn in their Chromebook to the front office and will pick their device up at the front office upon returning to school. • Parents must sign their child out at the Welcome Desk. • Parent must show a photo ID when they sign their child out. • Students returning to school must have a parent sign them back in. • No early dismissals allowed after 2: 45 pm. Absence • Contact the school via email at robinson. attendance@cms. k 12. nc. us • You will receive a call from the attendance office if you do not contact the school. • Student will be marked as unexcused if the parent does not contact the school.
I Forgot My. . . Often important items get left at home like lunch boxes, PE uniforms, homework and band instruments. • Bring the item to the Welcome Desk and label it with the student’s name and grade. • Students usually pick up items during the day on their way to lunch or in between classes, but if they forget they will be called to the Front Office during the afternoon announcements at 3: 13 pm to retrieve the item. Note: Items are not delivered to students in class and classes are not interrupted to notify students that an item has been dropped off for them.
Lost & Found Many items are lost and never retrieved on our campus. If your child is missing anything, including lunchboxes, water bottles, planners, notebooks, jackets, hoodies, etc. please have them check the Lost & Found is located at the entrance to the cafeteria closest to the gym.

Clubs and Activities While CMS prohibits 6 th graders from participating in sports, there are plenty of opportunities for them to get involved at JMR. Parent like a Pro • If you are picking your child up early and not returning that day, do it after 11: 45 am. This counts as a full attendance day. If they leave before that, they are marked absent for the day. • Try to avoid an early pick up after 2: 30 pm, you will be stuck in carpool and late for your appointment. • Changes in how your child goes home do not need to be reported to the school. Just have your child leave with the walkers, go to the bus stop or to carpool depending on the plan you have that day.
