Self-Contained Kindergarten a. b. c. d. 7: 55 a. m. – 2: 20 p. m……that’s a long day and it’s jam-packed with activity & learning No naptime at school……. practice NO NAP for 4 weeks before Kindergarten Develop a routine at home 4 weeks before school starts that includes a regular bedtime with a routine (reading) and regular wake time with a routine (breakfast, get dressed, teeth/hair). This routine should have no daytime nap…. . or shorten the naps throughout the 4 weeks. Appropriately dressed for the seasons (Velcro shoes) e. Math, reading, science, art, langauge f. Experiential Learning: Outdoor Classroom, Maker’s Lab, Field Trips, Exploratory Classes
Self-Help Skills a. Use bathroom independently b. Zip coat c. Tie shoes (or wear Velcro) and be able to take off and put on by themselves d. Take responsibility for their belongings **Label Coats** e. Button and snap fasteners, change clothes f. Recognize his/her first and last name G. Be able to identify physical discomforts, I’m hungry, thirsty, too hot
Social Skills ● ● ● ● ● Complete 2 -step directions Following directions from adults other than family members Sit and listen to someone read a story for at least 5 -10 minutes Play a game and accept losing Take turns while playing Complete short tasks without an adult’s help Have appropriate coping skills for difficult emotions Know how to use words to solve problems Identify emotions and uncomfortable feelings Self control
Sharpen those Social/Emotional Skills Give attention to what you want to see more of! PAX Learning self discipline requires a childhood filled with patience, love, and limits provided by adults consistently and repeatedly. Please use the word “no” with your child when appropriate and ask them to do things they might not want to do. Allow them to be confident by encouraging them to be persistent. Teach them how to cope with uncomfortable feelings and what words to use.
Engage with your child… you are your child’s first and most important teacher! **Technology should be earned, limited and used for learning.

No hay hora de la siesta en la escuela. . . práctica NO SIESTAS durante 4 semanas antes empezar kinder c. Desarrolle una rutina en casa 4 semanas antes de que empiecen las clases. Incluyendo una hora regular para acostarse con una rutina (lectura) y rutina regular al despertar con (desayuno, vestirse, lavar dientes/cabello). Esta rutina no debe tener siesta durante el día. . . o recortar las siestas a lo largo de las 4 semanas. d. Vista a su estudiante de acuerdo a las temporadas (zapatos de velcro) al menos que su hijo sepa amarrarse los zapatos por si mismo. d. Matemáticas, lectura, ciencia, arte, y lenguaje. f. Aprendizaje experiencial: clases al aire libre, laboratorio de creadores, paseos escolares, clases exploratorias
Habilidades de Autoayuda a. Usar el baño independientemente b. abrigo o chamarra con cierre c. Amarrar los zapatos (o usar Velcro) y ser capaz de quitarse y ponerse los zapatos por sí mismos d. Ser responsable de sus pertenencias. ***Nombre en chamaras*** m. Cerrar el botón y subir el cierre de los pantalones, cambiarse de ropa. f. Reconocer su nombre y apellido f. Ser capaz de identificar molestias físicas, como cuando tiene hambre, sed, demasiado calor
Habilidades Sociales § Seguir instrucciones de 2 pasos § Seguir instrucciones de adultos que no sean miembros de la familia § Sentarse y escuchar a alguien leer una historia por lo menos 5 -10 minutos § Juegar un juego y acepta perder sin molestarse. § Saber tomar turnos mientras juega con otros niños § Completar tareas cortas sin la ayuda de un adulto. § Auto control (ser paciente y esperar turnos) § Saber controlar emociones difíciles de una manera apropiada § Saber utilizar palabras para resolver problemas. § Identificar emociones y sentimientos incómodos.

PAX Aprender autodisciplina requiere una infancia llena de paciencia, amor y límites proporcionados por los adultos de manera constante y repetida. Use la palabra “no” con su hijo cuando sea apropiado y pídales que hagan cosas que no quieren hacer. Permita a su estudiante tener confianza animandolo a ser persistentes. Enséñeles cómo controlar los sentimientos incómodos y qué palabras usar.
