Background like Mine • Grew up in Rochester, New York. • Father coached at same University as my grandfather. • Replaced my father with his first coaching job at Mc. Quaid High School. • Basketball is in his genes as his brother Stan was also a head coach in the NBA.
Coaching Career • Started at High School level at Mc. Quaid High School. (19851986) • Took a Graduate assistant job for Rick Pitino at Providence University. Was promoted to assistant coach the second year at Providence. (1986 -1988) • Became an assistant coach at Rutgers 1989. • Assistant Coach for the New York Knicks (1990 -1996) • Head Coach of the New York Knicks (1997 -2001) Led 1999 team to the NBA Finals • Head coach of the Houston Rockets from (2003 -2007) went to the playoffs three out of the four seasons. • http: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=uo. Broadcasting Career • Became an ESPN color commentator for NBA games in 2008. • Ever since joining ESPN has been calling the NBA Finals. • One of the best commentators in business.
