Jean Piaget 1896 -1980 Weaknesses • Stages may be more fluid in the ages where they start and finish, some people don’t even reach formal operations • Social and cultural impact was not a focus • Observation and clinical interviews are more open to biased interpretation • Several studies have shown Piaget underestimated the abilities of children because his tests were sometimes confusing or difficult to understand • Piaget carried out his studies with a small sample size and his own children.
