The Earthquake and Tsunami • In 2011 a scale 9 earthquake happened at the shore of Japan • The earthquake lasted about 8 minutes long and caused a lot of damage to Japan • Due to Japan having an earthquake warning many life's were saved by stopping all trains and anything other working lines • The earthquake was so strong that it caused a tsunami reaching over 40 metres high • The tsunami destroyed everything in its path, sweeping up cars , railways and destroying almost every house it touched for 230 miles

Death Toll • Almost 16000 people died due to both the earthquake and tsunami
